Frequently Asked Questions

Hi parents and students. Welcome to the catch-all page for confirmation information.

For now, here is a .pdf file with an introduction letter and the class schedule.

Confirmation Schedule

If there are any problems, call me at the church office.

Short version. Confirmation classes will begin Wednesday, Sept 20th, from 4:30pm to 6:00pm in the church library.

The file above contains the schedule for classes, the memory work expected, the reading assignments. This year we will cover the Apostle's Creed, the Sacraments (Baptism and Lord's Supper), Confession/Office of the Keys, with explainations.

Memory work will be given by verbal recitation, quizes, or tests. Questions are encouraged if there is anything that is not understood or need clarification. I am always available to my students and their families for added help.

I am also excited to be working with a great group of young adults. I look forward to this year and more to come.

Some things that might help you study during this year's confirmation.

Do you know your learning style? It seems that many people learn in one of four basic styles:

    Learning styles:
  1. Visual (Seeing)
  2. Aural (Hearing)
  3. Reading/Writing
  4. Kinesthetic (Moving)

  5. Some people are called 'Multimodal' which means they like to learn in more than one style.

For a quick, 13 item questionnaire, check out The VARK web page and click on 'Questionnaire'. It will help you see if you have a preference towards one way of learning, and help you with ideas of how to make more things make sense.

So you know, Pastor Lutjens leans very strongly towards Reading/Writing in his learning style. He'll try hard to teach and explain things in other ways. If you find you like to learn in other ways, let him know, and he'll be glad to use your help to make things more interesting!
